"Marxism-Leninism brings to light the laws governing the development of
the history of human society. Its basic tenets are correct and have
tremendous vitality," according to the newly amended Constitution of the
Community Party of China.

"So long as the Chinese Communists uphold the basic tenets of Marxism-
Leninism and follow the road suited to China's specific conditions and
chosen by the Chinese people of their own accord, the socialist cause
in China will be crowned with final victory."

For now, however, "China is at the primary stage of socialism and will
remain so for a long period of time."
